The Ferrari duet tries to temper McLaren in Catalonia

Jakarta (medialnews) – Ferrari team duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz hope to bring the Italian team closer to McLaren in the constructors’ standings at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.

Ferrari has shown another improvement in their performance this season after Leclerc and Sainz secured starting positions P4 and P6 respectively for the fourth race on the calendar.

Last year, Leclerc became the leading Ferrari driver in the P9, with a distance of 1.5 seconds from the pole sitter. This season, however, the Monaco driver managed to finish in P4, 0.769 seconds behind Lewis Hamilton, who took the record of 100 pole position in his career with Barcelona.

“I feel like we can beat McLaren. We are in a good position. We are both starting for McLaren … this is an important battle for us, because realistically we are fighting for the constructors’ standings, also with Alpine, so the points will be very important. tomorrow. “

Meanwhile, Sainz is feeling more comfortable behind the wheel of the SF21 this time, but is still concerned about tire deterioration issues in the race.

“We are still concerned about the degradation of our tires. On Friday we realized again from long distance that it was still missing there, but at the same time we are trying to overcome it.

“It will take a while, we have to be more in this car. We will see what we can do tomorrow, but the races are usually tougher for us than Saturday.

Sainz is hoping for good results back in his hometown after seeing his position drop from P5 to P11 in Portimao.
