Pertamina Mandalika’s team duet struggled to get into the top 10 of training sessions

Jakarta (medialnews) – The Pertamina Mandalika SAG team duet Thomas Luthi and Bo Bendsneyder had a hard time getting into the top 10 of the free practice of the Moto2 Grand Prix of Portugal at the Algarve Circuit, Portimao, Friday.

Veteran racer Thomas Luthi finished P15 in the combined time of the two free practice sessions, 1.274 seconds behind Italtrans Racing team racer Joe Roberts who appeared fastest in FP1 and FP2.

Luthi’s teammate Bo Bendsneyder dropped to 28th place, with a margin of 2.086 seconds from the top of the session.

Luthi and Bendsneyder must be at least in the top 14 in the combined time of the three practices on Saturday if they want to qualify directly for the second qualifying round (Q2) for the 18 leading starting positions, along with the top four riders from V1 .

The best qualifying result for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG team this season was won by Bendsneyder when he claimed P3 in the opening series of the Qatar Grand Prix at the end of March.

Meanwhile, Roberts scored 1: 43.144 seconds to beat rookie Raul Fernandez of Red Bull team KTM Ajo by a margin of 0.317 seconds on the first day of practice.

Aron Canet from the Solunion Aspar team performed quite solidly in the P3.

After part of the track was wet in the morning session, the weather in the second practice kept track conditions dry so all riders could set their time records.

The leader in the standings Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) had been pushed to third place in FP2 before the British racer finally finished P7 behind Hector Garzo (Flexbox HP40).
