Perez excels Sainz at the FP1 Monaco Grand Prix

Jakarta (medialnews) – Sergio Perez scored the fastest time in free practice for the first time since joining Red Bull at the FP1 Monaco Grand Prix on Thursday.

The Mexican racer clocked 1: 12.487 on soft tires when F1 returned to Monaco after canceling a race on the city-state highway circuit in 2020 due to the pandemic.

According to the official Formula 1 website, Carlos Sainz completed the first practice 0.119 seconds later than Perez to put Ferrari as the second fastest car with medium tires.

Max Verstappen in the second Red Bull car used medium tires and finished in P3, 0.161 seconds behind his teammate.

Pierre Gasly confirmed the speed of cars with Honda engines that day after finishing P4 for the AlphaTauri team and even beat two Mercedes, driven by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, who finished P5 and P6 respectively.

Hamilton, who is 14 points ahead of Verstappen in the race for the top of the table, is about half a second behind Perez’s pace.
