Padang (medialnews) – The Financial Services Authority, representative for West Sumatra, reminded the public to be careful and maintain the confidentiality of ATM pins on savings books to avoid loss of money. money in bank savings accounts, as in recent incidents.
“The loss of money in a savings account at a bank is caused by two things, namely customer factors and bank factors,” OJK West Sumatra chief Misran Pasaribu said in Padang on Friday.
On the client side, we have to see if the interested party is really attentive to maintaining the confidentiality of his funds.
In various cases, it has been found that many customers have given their PIN code to other people.
“Or the PIN number is recorded on paper and then stored in the wallet. When the wallet is lost, the account can be emptied,” he said.

In addition, there is also a family between husband and wife, parents and children give each other ATM pins.
For this reason, customers must properly maintain the confidentiality of data from pins, ATMs and savings books.
On the banking side, it is also necessary to see if the internal security procedures are correctly executed.
“Don’t let anyone open a savings account. ATMs are still run by unscrupulous banks and are not given to customers. Eventually the account was emptied by that person,” he said.
In addition, it is also possible to be tied to the banking system when IT experts tamper with the bank’s system so that they can make transfers to other accounts.
These two things must be maintained globally and the OJK cannot supervise clients and can only focus on supervising the banking sector.
“Each year, when performing the checks, we make sure that all client funds are well maintained and that there are no artificial transfers,” he said.
During the OJK examination, at least once a year, it is carried out and ensures that all standard operating procedures of the bank are functioning properly.
“However, if there are unscrupulous bank workers illegally taking clients’ funds, it will be dealt with by the OJK and the authorities,” he said.
