Nick Jonas to host 2021 Billboard Music Awards

Jakarta (medialnews) – Singer Nick Jonas will host the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, which is scheduled to air live on May 23, 2021 US time.

It is the first time that it has organized a Billboard Music Awards two years its senior (Jonas is 28; whereas BBMA was launched 30 years ago).

He replaced singer Kelly Clarkson who, for the past three years, hosted the show, as quoted Sunday on the Billboard page.

Nick and Clarkson are two of five singers to host a single BBMA show in addition to Phil Collins, LL Cool J and Ludacris.

Nick, who said he was honored to be chosen to host the show, shared a video of himself claiming to have received the “Best Host of All Time” award when contacting Joe.

He and Joe at the Jonas Brothers won three Billboard Music Awards last year: Best Duo / Group, Best Radio Song Artist and Best Radio Song for “Sucker,” their first song to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Jonas Brothers rose to popularity as teenage pop artists from 2007 to 2010, with their album topping the Billboard 200. They were also nominated for a Grammy for Best Emerging Artist.

As an actor, Nick has appeared in films such as “Goat”, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, “Midway” and “Chaos Walking”.

Nick’s selection as host was announced on Friday (4/30) or a day after the announcement of this year’s BBMA finalists. The Weeknd entered the top nominee list this year with 16 categories, followed by Da Baby (11), Pop Smoke (10) and Gabby Barrett (9).
