Minister of Trade: Using digital technology is key to transforming MSMEs

Jakarta (medialnews) – Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said the use of digital technology is one of the keys to drive the transformation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that they can be competitive at the World level.

“The use of digital technology is one of the main keys to drive the transformation of MSMEs so that they can be competitive globally,” Minister Lutfi said on Tuesday at a virtual event with Google Indonesia.

He said the government continues to encourage and help MSMEs to improve the quality of their products and their competitiveness.

In addition, MSME players are also constantly encouraged to take advantage of digital technology to strengthen their position not only in the domestic market, but also to expand into the global export market.

Therefore, he said, MSME actors need to have digital literacy skills, both basic skills such as marketing through online platforms and advanced skills such as product personalization. having targets and segmentation.

“Use artificial intelligence is a capacity that absolutely must be mastered by those involved in the business world in Indonesia, ”said Minister Lutfi.

In addition, Lutfi said Indonesia has huge digital market potential.

He said the value of digital economic transactions in Indonesia is expected to reach IDR 4.434 billion in 2030, or 16% of the value of gross domestic product.

“We must not miss this opportunity to make Indonesian MSMEs succeed in their own country and be able to compete in the global market,” he said.

He added that the government continues to commit to creating a conducive and user-friendly digital business transaction ecosystem to create fair trade.
