Marcus Smart was suspended for one game by the NBA for threatening the referee

Jakarta (medialnews) – Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was suspended by the NBA for one unpaid game for threatening words to the referee during his game against Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday (4/27).

The incident occurred during and after the Thunder, who traveled to defeat Boston 119-115, ended a 14-game lost streak for Oklahoma City.

In the game, Smart scored 14 points, but committed a technical foul when he was about to shoot the ball into the opponent’s basket and the referee whistled as a warning.

With the suspension received, Smart will not be able to appear to defend the Celtics when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday (4/28) local time.

The 27-year-old Guard is in his seventh NBA season, and it was all with the Celtics. He has averaged 13.6 points, 5.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 42 games for Boston this season.

With a win-and-loss score of 32-30, the Celtics are now sixth in the Eastern Conference, just one place above Miami for the final playoff spot.

Teams that are seventh through ten at the Eastern Conference will participate in the play-in tournament.

The Charlotte Hornets are currently in eighth place with a 30-31 win-loss record.
