Manggarai returns to critical phase

VIVA – The transmission of the coronavirus to Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is in a critical and alert phase. This phenomenon is marked by an increase in new cases of COVID-19 which is followed by an increase in the number of deaths from this deadly virus.

In the past two days, namely Friday and Saturday (April 23-24, 2021), there have been an additional 43 new cases of COVID-19 in Manggarai Regency.

This is the second-highest increase in cases since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Manggarai regency.

The addition of 43 new cases is the result of the examination of the rapid diagnostic swab test (RDtAg) antigen sample of 25 convent residents, the OSM brothers in Golo Bilas, Wae Rii district and 18 Franciscan nuns, in the district of Langke Rembong.

“Based on the results of the search and contact tracing of cases carried out by the COVID-19 working group in the two monasteries, it is suspected that residents of the monastery have just returned from vacation from several regions,” said COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson Lodivikus Moa said on Sunday April 25, 2021.
