Kapuspen: KRI Rimau has detected a strong magnetic point in the waters north of Bali

There is a magnetic point which is strong enough, I hope it will not change and will be continued. Hope this becomes a bright spot

Jakarta (medialnews) – The head of the Information Center of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Kapuspen), Major General TNI Achmad Riad, said that KRI Rimau had detected a strong magnetic point in the search area, namely in waters north of the island of Bali, and his part would go on and follow up on the findings.

“There is a magnetic point which is strong enough, I hope it will not change and will be continued. Hopefully it will become a bright point,” Achmad Riad said at a press conference at Base Ops Ngurah Rai Base, Badung, Bali, Friday. , concerning the development of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine research which has lost contact since Wednesday (21/4) in the waters north of Bali.

Earlier, Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono previously mentioned on Thursday (22/4) that KRI Rimau found sufficiently strong magnetic points at a depth of around 50 to 100 meters in a floating state.

KRI Rimau’s findings are expected to be followed by KRI Rigel, which is expected to arrive at the research scene on Friday afternoon or evening, Riad said at a press conference on Friday.

He went on to explain that so far the search area for KRI Nanggala-402 is still concentrated in the waters north of Bali.

“Its territory is still 65 miles from the waters north of Bali,” the TNI chief said at a press conference.

The search process, which has lasted for several days, has yielded several clues, including a fuel spill, believed to have come from KRI Nanggala-402.

Riad said his party will try to maximize the search, especially on this day, using all TNI-owned vessels that have underwater detection capabilities using sonar.

The reason is that the oxygen capacity of KRI Nanggala-402 is only available for 72 hours or about three days in a state of total death (Blackout). The vessel lost contact at 03:00 WITA, so oxygen may be available until 03:00 WITA, Saturday.

At least 21 TNI-owned ships have been deployed to search for the KRI Nanggala-402, including among the KRI Alugoro submarines.

In this regard, Riad said that the TNI had also received assistance from four police ships, as well as several ships and equipment from friendly countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, India and Australia.

“We will get all the help. The process will be speeded up because of the time we are running,” Riad said. He added that the process of receiving aid will be coordinated by the intelligence assistant to the commander of the TNI and the intelligence assistant to the chief of the navy staff.

KRI Nanggala-402 conducted a dive around 03:00 WITA on Wednesday to conduct an 8 torpedo launch exercise. The last communication with KRI Nanggala-402 was at 04:25 WITA, when the task force commander of training will allow torpedo fire. .
