COVID-19 patient dies while trying to escape from ICU

VIVA – A male patient who tried to escape the intensive care room at Ade M Djoen Sintang Hospital, West Kalimantan, ultimately died Wednesday morning after being treated for nine days due to exposure to COVID-19.

Ade M Djoen Sintang Regional Hospital Director Rosa Trifina in Sintang on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, said the deceased patient attempted to escape the camera at 8:30 p.m. WIB by slamming into the door to the intensive care room. As a result, the patient’s legs and body were injured and he bled badly.

“The patient was then treated again by the medical team, and six hours later the patient died,” Rosa said.

He said that before trying to escape, the patient had suffered a deterioration in his health since the afternoon.
