Bali United’s senior players welcomed Liga 1’s promotional relegation

Jakarta (medialnews) – Bali United senior player Leonard Tupamahu welcomed the decision on the promotion and relegation format in the League 1 and League 2 competitions for the 2021-2022 season.

“Personally, I think the decision is very appropriate if it is properly executed,” Leonard said on the club’s official website on Thursday.

According to the 37-year-old defender, the essence of the competition can be felt by a team more competitively through promotion and relegation systems.

The owner of jersey number 32 said all League 1 teams have the same chance of getting the best results in Indonesia’s highest caste league.

“For me personally, all teams have the same chance in League 1 to get the best results and even the champions. Most importantly, the timing of the implementation is also in line with the right time for all the teams participating,” said this senior player.

The League 1 competition will take place this season from July 3, followed by Liga 2 after two weeks.

So far, the player who obtained this coaching license is still in his best condition and is preparing for the AFC Cup 2021.

PSSI has ensured that the promotion and relegation system remains in effect in Liga 1 and Liga 2 for the 2021-2022 season.

The decision was taken after PSSI chairman Mochamad Iriawan had discussed with the Exco PSSI (Executive Committee) on Tuesday two days ago during the Emergency Exco Meeting and consulted with FIFA and AFC.

Previously, there was momentum with some League 1 and 2 clubs asking for the 2021-2022 season without relegation as the COVID-19 pandemic was not over.

The annual PSSI conference is scheduled for May 29 in Jakarta.
