VIVA – A magnitude 6.2 earthquake that rocked the Blitar Regency in East Java damaged 90 homes in Malang Regency. The epicenter of the earthquake is at sea with coordinates of 8.63 south latitude (LS) and 112.34 east longitude (BT) or 57 kilometers to the southeast, Blitar Regency with a depth of 110 kilometers.
Sadono Irawan, head of the emergency and logistics division of BPBD Malang Regency, said the number of damaged houses was spread across 14 sub-districts of Malang Regency. Residents are currently advised to stay calm and avoid buildings damaged and cracked by the earthquake.
“Total damage to houses is 90 units. Light damage is 66 units, moderate damage is 17 units, all 4 units heavily damaged,” Sadono said on Saturday May 22, 2021.
