medialnews, JAKARTA – No less than 86 children of the KRI Nanggala 402 crew received excellent scholarships as a thank you from the government.

The awarding of graduate scholarships is stipulated in the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) with the Indonesian Navy.

Education, Research and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim said the award of the flagship scholarship was a form of recognition for 53 KRI Nanggala 402 soldiers who were reported drowned in Bali waters April 25, 2021.

“The 86 sons and daughters of the KRI Nanggala 402 crew will receive their education from elementary to undergraduate level,” Nadiem said as he witnessed the signing of the award-winning Sons and Daughters of the crews scholarship cooperation agreement. KRI Nanggala 402 virtually, Tuesday (25/5).

Nadiem said the scholarship could not replace KRI Nanggala 402 soldiers, but as a form of state appreciation to the nation’s patriots.

The granting of scholarships is also a mandate from President Joko Widodo who requested that all school fees for children of the KRI Nanggala 402 crew be covered by the state up to higher education.

“The scholarships awarded to the sons and daughters of the crew of the KRI Nanggala 402 have a budget of Rp 33.25 billion. They will be awarded in stages until 2044 from basic education to teaching. higher in Indonesia, ”he explained.

On the same occasion, KASAL Laksamana TNI Yudo Margono stated that the higher scholarships for the 53 sons and daughters of the KRI Nanggala 402 crew had been mandated by President Jokowi.
