MARC Marquez may not have won a MotoGP race since 2021, but his unrivalled record at the Sachsenring has Enea Bastianini hoping the Spaniard can speak volumes.

Marquez and Bastianini are battling for third place in the world championship, behind Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia.

Podium finishes for Bastianini in the final two rounds mean he trails the Gresini rider by just six points, who will take over his place at the Ducati factory in 2025.

But with Marquez holding the record for consecutive wins at the Sachsenring from the 125cc class in 2009 to 2019 in the MotoGP class, Bastianini predicts the #93 will be the favourite this weekend.

“If we look at the statistics, the Sachsenring is a circuit where Marc Márquez is always fast, so I hope he is the one to beat this weekend,” said Bastianini, quoting Crash (4/7).

“However, I am very confident: our starting line-up worked well almost everywhere and we had two positive Grands Prix. I am sure that we can also be successful in Germany. We will give everything as usual!”

His teammate Bagnaia narrowly lost out to Jorge Martin in the sprint race and the German Grand Prix last year.

But if he continues his current momentum, Bagnaia could move to the top of the standings heading into the summer break, as he sits just 10 points behind Martin.

“This weekend will be the last before the summer break and I hope to finish the first part of the season in the best way,” said Bagnaia.

“We had three very positive weekends, where in the summer we only missed victories. Barcelona Sprint and in the Netherlands everything was perfect,” he said.

“Last year, Martín was very strong in Germany, but on Sunday we also managed to be more competitive. Now we have to stay focused. We have the potential to continue to perform well and if we work as we have done so far, I am sure we can perform well this weekend too,” he added.
