Member of Commission VIII DPR RI PKS faction, Wisnu Wijaya Adi Putra, approved the proposal for an investigation right to supervise the Hajj.

“By taking into consideration several crucial comments, the PKS faction approved the proposal for an investigative right for supervision of the Hajj, which was then followed by the formation of a special committee for the investigation of supervision of the Hajj,” Wisnu said in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/7).

The right of inquiry to form this special committee was based on the many crucial problems discovered by the Hajj monitoring team. They believe that better efforts are needed in conducting the Hajj pilgrimage.

“We hope that with the formation of this special committee, a comprehensive evaluation will take place so that it can become material for improving the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage,” he added.

Poor Hajj services include accommodation, catering, tents, access to water and toilets, health care and transportation. All of these are repeated every year, which affects not only regular Hajj pilgrims but also special Hajj pilgrims. The distance or imbalance between services and the number of municipalities also affect poor services.

“Many pilgrims were displaced because the capacity of the Arafah and Mina tents was insufficient to accommodate the congregation,” he said.

During a hearing with the Director General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religion on May 20, 2024, the DPR reminded the Ministry of Religion to work with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to impose restrictions on non-visa Hajj pilgrims. They were asked not to go for Umrah or pilgrimage to the Holy Land during the Hajj season.

“Many illegal Hajj pilgrims do not use official Hajj visas, while some use Umrah visas that have overstayed, and some use visit visas,” he said.

Furthermore, the PKS faction considers that the unilateral action of the Ministry of Religion, which unilaterally set the regular Hajj quota at 213,320 and the special Hajj quota at 27,680, is considered a violation of Law No. 8 of 2019 on the performance of Hajj and Umrah in the country. Article 64 Paragraph (2).

“The PKS faction has done its best to fight for the ambitions of the municipality as a form of commitment to the FPKS struggle, so that the 2024 Hajj continues smoothly, safely and well and remains a Mabrur Hajj,” he concluded. (Z-11)
