PDIP and PKS offer opportunities for coalition in regional elections in North Sumatra, support Bobby Nasution in the gubernatorial elections?

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) North Sumatra visited the office of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Prosperous Justice Party of MCC North Sumatra in Medan City on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. The two political parties discussed the possibility of a coalition in the regional main elections or 2024 regional elections.

“PDIP and PKS are big parties, especially in North Sumatra. Both are ideological parties. If they join, they will definitely achieve great results, especially if they are greeted with a red table. Maybe this is a sign,” said North Sumatra PDIP DPD Chairman Rapidin Simbolon was welcomed at the North Sumatra PKS DPW office, as quoted Between.

Rapidin said that PDIP and PKS share the same commitment to building quality democracy in the 2024 regional elections, especially in the election of governor and vice-governor or in the gubernatorial elections in North Sumatra.

However, he said that the two political parties have not yet determined which candidates they will nominate in the North Sumatra gubernatorial elections. He said that the PDIP DPP had the authority to decide who would be nominated for the North Sumatra gubernatorial elections.

“Our agenda is to return the friendship that the PKS has made to the PDIP. The authority to decide who will be promoted to PDIP lies with the DPP. We are still waiting for the decision of the DPP,” Rapidin said.

On that occasion, Rapidin and the ranks of the North Sumatra PDIP DPD were directly received by the chairman of the North Sumatra PKS DPW Usman Jakfar and other directors. Usman said that the proximity of PKS and PDIP would be used as capital to develop North Sumatra.

“This return visit is therefore intended to strengthen the relationship between PKS and PDIP. This proximity will be used as capital to develop North Sumatra,” he said.

Usman explained that the North Sumatra PKS DPW is also still waiting for instructions and decisions from the PKS DPP regarding the candidates that will be nominated for the North Sumatra gubernatorial elections. However, he hopes that the PKS and the PDIP can build relations in the 2024 regional elections, especially in the North Sumatra gubernatorial elections.

“Society is not only built in provinces, but also in districts/cities. That is the hope, yes. Hope can become reality,” he said.

Usman said that the North Sumatra PKS had recommended a number of names to run in the 2024 North Sumatra gubernatorial elections. They were former North Sumatra governor Edy Rahmayadi, Berry Simorangkir, Amir Hamzah and Medan mayor Bobby Nasution.

“Everything has been submitted to the DPP. Later, the DPP will decide who will be promoted. Everyone will have the same chance. So far, no decree has been given to anyone,” he said.

Moreover, the PKS DPP has not decided to support Bobby Nasution in the North Sumatra gubernatorial elections…
