McLaren RACER Oscar Piastri stressed the importance of consistency as a prerequisite for the Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, which will be held from June 28 to 30.

“We have not looked at it in detail (the necessary improvements). There are some clues here and there (data), but I think the magnitude of our current struggle is greater (the impact). So we just have to understand why it happened,” Piastri said on Tuesday (25/6), quoted on the official Formula 1 website.

This consistency harkens back to his performance at the Spanish GP last weekend, when he started the race from ninth position and then ended the race by struggling to finish in seventh place.

He achieved P9 in the qualifying session after making several mistakes on his start. This position is also the worst position for him this season.

Although he was eventually able to rise to seventh in the race, beating Sergio Perez (Red Bull) and three seconds behind Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Piastri felt he needed more data to tackle the difficult situation that came his way to understand. and the most appropriate approach to prevent the same challenge from recurring.

“It was clearly a difficult weekend. However, P7 is a quite realistic result, even if the pace was not quite (good) at that time,” said Piastri.

“It is important for us to understand why it happens and why it is so difficult (to beat),” he continued.

On Friday (28/6) free training (FP) 1 will take place at 5:30 PM WIB, as well as the sprint qualification at 9:30 PM WIB.

The sprint race and the main qualifying race will then be held on Saturday (29/6), at 5:00 PM WIB and 9:00 PM WIB respectively.
